KINGUARD 20.01 released

Post by tor » Fri Jan 10, 2020 9:23 am

We are happy to announce that we today release Kinguard 20.01

This release is a minor upgrade and is only provided as an upgrade. If your unit has auto update enabled it should upgrade automatically.

Main visible/notable changes include
  • Minor cleanups to the web based admin interface
  • Backups are now made immutable, i.e read only.
  • The backup expire function is updated. This will show up in which backups are kept.

The road ahead
Main focus from now on is to migrate the Kinguard distribution to use a Debian Buster base, now we still use Debian stretch. Nextcloud and other 3rd party apps should be upgraded to more recent versions and the ongoing work to better support more hardware platforms should hopefully materialize.

A note and a heads up in this context is that we might not be able to support the original OPI device with the Buster based release. The onboard storage unfortunately just isn't large enough to accommodate the latest versions of all software. (As we where painfully made aware of with the latest security/kernel upgrade of the distribution.) We will provide more information on this as things progress.
