Disk(s) File System Format

Post by striker » Wed May 09, 2018 6:29 am

Gents,

Does either disk, the master or usb backup need to be formatted first to a specific file system before using it in the KEEP? If memory serves me correctly the Opi master is reformatted on the initial start up but the local usb backup has to be formatted as Fat32 before use. I'd assume the KEEP is the same as i couldn't find it in any documentation but assumptions often lead to trouble.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Striker,

The USB device needs to be formatted and writable.
Recommended file systems are FAT32 and ext4. Note that the "exFat" that Windows might propose is not usable.

The reason for not automatically formatting the disk is that we do not want to wipe any existing data by mistake.

Actually all file systems that are supported by "Debian stretch" is ok to use (which of course does not mean too much for anyone...)
